Let me start by introducing myself, my name is Amélie, I’m 22 and I come from the wine and mustard region in France! Yes you have guessed it right! I come from Burgundy! I landed last Thursday and apart from my housemates meeting me in corridors or in the kitchen…the reason for my arrival in Manchester is to take over the Intern position at MCA! As I am aware that our readers are by now used to all the zillions interns who came to MCA, I would like for you to know me in a different way and this is why I will introduce myself through my 3 passions in life, the one and only that give some rhythm to my life and give me experiences!
First off, I am fond of athletics ! It has been five years since I practice athletics and I never get tired of it ! As you probably know, there are a lot of disciplines in this sport. I am specialized in the 400m and 800m hurdles which require a lot of work ! This is why I train myself everyday after school! It might sound like a lot but if you do remember, I did say that this gave rhythm to my life!
Unlike a lot of people may think athletics is not just an individual and combative sport, far from it. Behind the success of an individual lies the determination of a coach and the support of a team particularly when the relay races are happening. For me, my best memories have been created through the talks of my coach and running alongside my friends during the relay races.
Please excuse my face stretching to get the strength needed! ;-)
Then I am passionate about fashion or you may call me a fashion addicted (to my parent’s and my finances utter despair) I would say that my passion for fashion comes from my grandmas, both give me the fervour and style inspiration I have gained throughout the years. It seems like the more I grow the more it becomes important to me. My endeavour for fashion can be summarises with Michelle Obama quote ‘If I can have any impact, I want women to feel good about themselves and have fun with fashion'
For me it’s all about feeling comfortable in your own skin and ultimately that means to feel good in your clothes. Fashion to me is not just that superficial layer you carry around it has more to it, feeling comfortable, feeling good and it is about change and how you grow as a person. This is why I would like to create my own business in this field at the end of my studies.
Last but not least, I love baking.
You might think that baking and sport does not match but actually I do love eating too! and it is not a bad thing it’s quite the opposite actually!
I discovered bakery when I was in preparatory class. It was a real breath of fresh air and I was so proud to bake for my parents, friends and acquaintances that it became a passion. Check out the pic with the heart cake I made for mother’s day! a shortbread biscuit with mango and passion fruit called "crème diplomate".
And that is all! By now I believe you have understood that not only I am a dynamic girl but a very creative one too! So I hope over the next few weeks you will be able to know me a little bit better and you will follow me on my journey in Manchester where I will get a new life experience! Until we meet again…. Amelie.
