In today’s world, it is not unusual to be asked to describe yourself in just a few words. Be it your #Facebook profile or a job interview, you will be asked to describe yourself in a few words. The idea here is to be original and creative, and not give the same old run-of-the-mill answers that everyone else gives. You know the answer to that question ‘What are your weaknesses? ‘I am demanding with myself, I get so absorbed in my work that I lose all track of time’ Well, is that really a weakness???… putting more work than your colleagues? I don’t think so… Anyway describing yourself during an interview and describing yourself socially it’s two different things.
When you describe yourself in a post because you are looking for new flatmates, the truth is that you want them to like you at first and in many cases you want to be seen as being cool. You know the type of person everybody wants to hang out with. So it would not work to just say my name is Leana, I am 19 and I work as a #Communicaiton #Officer. This would be too brutal and uninteresting. They are some cases where being brutal in an advertisement for accommodation works just like #MCAProperties did here on spareroom. But remember they are the landlords and not the house hunters!
My Cheese and bacon Scones!
So this is what I would say, always speak from your heart and try to be as truthful as you can be. You need to stand out from the rest of the crowd, and using some creative words to do it is a way that is sure to #succeed ( #Ingrid's interview, director of #MCALanguages showcases just that!)
So when, recently I have been asked to describe myself in a short paragraph, I did just that and here is my description.
If I was to give you 4 words describing the country I am coming from would you be able to guess ? Let’s try : ‘romantic, wine, cheese, baguette’
Yes you got this one right, it’s France, hence why ‘possibly’ I love cooking and going to restaurants. If you catch me in the kitchen I will be baking bacon and cheese scone but of course I would offer you one or two… you may ask why I am doing in Manchester, well I have a weakness for travelling since I was a child…mind you I am only 19 years old. I went to Ibiza, Bali, New York, Canada and South Africa (here you will see the beautiful pictures of South Africa ‘God’s Window’, my trip to Ibiza, my homemade scones) I still have to discover more from France and my own city Lyon where I study in a Business school. But for now enjoying other cultures and seeing beautiful architectures it’s my motto.
South Africa called 'God's window'
